Ellie was discovered on Saddle Road, the main highway that travels across the Big Island, next to her mother who had tragically succumbed to a car accident. A compassionate family saw her and decided to intervene, after exhausting all other resources, the family ultimately deciding to seek refuge for her at the sanctuary.
